If you have a concern
We hope that you are always happy with your child's time at Ley Top Primary School, however, we know that sometimes things go wrong and you want help to understand, or to help us stop a repeat incident. We understand that your child is your priority and we want to work with you to reassure you that they are our priority too.
The most important things to consider when something doesn't feel right is who is the best person to speak to.
Who can help with your worries?
In most cases, this will be your child's class teacher. They are the person who will know them best and someone you will quickly recognise. Most worries can be dealt with by them quickly. We encourage you to make an appointment with them to talk through your worry and to agree how the situation will be resolved.
Sometimes, despite their best efforts, your worry will need a higher level of support. We have dedicated leaders in each Key Stage. Miss Hammond is our Key Stage 1 Phase Leader and Miss Greenwood is our Key Stage 2 Phase Leader. Their role is to support the children, families and colleagues in their phase when a situation needs a little more seniority. You can make an appointment through the school office to speak to them.
Our Senior Leadership Team of Mr Gawthorpe (Headteacher) and Mr Pickering (our Interim Deputy Headteacher) are the next level of support and are available to speak to on the gate each morning. If it is just a quick reassurance you need, please speak to one of us. You can be assured that the information will be shared with colleagues to make sure the situation can be resolved. If you need a longer conversation, or it is more sensitive, please contact the school office who will be happy to make an appointment for you.
What if my worry is to do with safeguarding?
Our Safeguarding Team is Mr Gawthorpe (Safeguarding Lead), Mr Pickering and Mrs Kelly (Deputy Safeguarding Leads). They can be contacted in confidence using safeguarding@leytop.bradford.sch.uk . You can also pop in to the school office and ask to speak to one of us or call the school office who will put you in touch with us.
How you can help us resolve your worry?
The best way to resolve a concern is by talking it through. We appreciate that you may feel frustrated, upset or even angry but please speak to us politely so that we can understand exactly what you think has gone wrong. We will listen, we will investigate and we will let you know what we are going to do to make things better. Sometimes we will need to take some time to look into your concerns fully so we will let you know a reasonable timescale to get you an answer. If, for any reason, you do not get a response in that timescale, please feel free to escalate your concern.
Parent Kind, The Department for Education, Ofsted, Improving Education Together and Parent Friendly Schools have produced a useful booklet which gives information on how families and schools can work together to resolve worries. Please take a look using the link below.

What if you are still not satisfied?
We hope that we will be able to quickly resolve your concern. However, in the unlikely event you still remain unhappy, we have a complaints policy that you can use to raise a formal complaint. The complaints policy can be found by clicking the link below. If you would prefer to receive a paper copy, please ask the school office.
